Plans to give local councils the biggest shake up in more than 50 years have been formally approved.
Local Government Secretary Angela Rayner has confirmed that Suffolk is one of the areas included - and means county and district councils will now move towards a unitary authority.
Despite some opposition, it also means that local elections planned for this May have now been postponed.
Speaking in the Houses of Parliament, Angela Rayner said the postponement would mean devolution would go ahead and there would be a "generational power shift from Whitehall to the town hall".
