Community Projects Get Big Funding Boost

Lowestoft's First Light Festival was one of the groups who received funds from Suffolk County Council's Cultural Project Fund.

Tens of thousands of pounds has been awarded to arts and community projects in Lowestoft, Bungay and Dunwich.

The Seagull Theatre and First Light Festival in Lowestoft both received £20,000 from Suffolk County Council’s Cultural Project Fund.

Money for the First Light Festival will go towards the New Dawn Project - which aims to engage young people in Lowestoft through music and providing performance opportunities.

Meanwhile, the Seagull Theatre will see the financial boost go towards a youth development programme.

Elsewhere, Bungay Folk Festival received £6,500 to help promote folk music in the town, with the project including various workshops, performances, and community engagement activities.

Dunwich Community Heritage Centre, received £12,000 for its “Next Steps” project, which aims to run events, activities and collaborations in the village to engage the community and increase understanding of coastal change, biodiversity, and social history.
