Police are appealing for witnesses after a car was reportedly driven at an officer in the Oulton Broad area of Lowestoft.
The incident happened between 6:55pm and 7:05pm on Wednesday (2nd October) Commodore Road, after an earlier collision nearby in Bridge Road caused traffic to be diverted.
An officer managing traffic at the junction with Caldecott Road was approached by the driver of a white Volkswagen Polo, who said he needed access to a location in Commodore Road. The officer asked him to wait briefly while she managed the flow of vehicles.
She then reported smelling cannabis from the car and said the driver became agitated. The officer stated that the man then turned his car around and drove towards her, forcing her to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
A 36-year-old man from Lowestoft was arrested in the early hours of the following morning and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and for drivers with dashcam footage from the area at the time to review their recordings for anything that may help the investigation.
Anyone with information is asked to contact East CID at Lowestoft Police Station, quoting the relevant police reference number.
