Following the huge success of this year’s Lowestoft Carnival, organisers have confirmed plans for the event to return in 2027.
The Seagull Theatre, which led the revival of the Carnival after a 13-year break, says the next celebration is provisionally planned for 7th and 8th August 2027.
An evaluation of the 2025 event showed strong community support and high attendance across the Carnival weekend — including over 1,200 visitors to the Children’s Theatre Festival on Royal Green.
- Organisers say a two-year gap before the next event will bring several benefits, including:
- More time to raise funds and secure long-term finances
- Space for The Seagull team to rebuild capacity after a busy year
- Opportunities to collaborate further with local organisations
- Time to plan for a larger-scale event reflecting this year’s strong attendance
- Exploration of expanding the air display
- The ability to avoid clashes with other local events
The Seagull Theatre said it remains committed to delivering a Carnival that reflects Lowestoft’s creativity and community spirit.
A spokesperson said: “The response to this year’s Carnival was incredible. We want to build on that success by taking time to plan a sustainable and inclusive event that the whole town can enjoy.”
More details and community consultation updates will be shared through The Seagull Theatre and Think Lowestoft websites as plans develop.
