Emergency services have closed roads in Lowestoft after a major water pipe burst, sending water high into the air and causing disruption for drivers and nearby residents.
The incident happened near the junctions of Norwich Road and Rotterdam Road on Monday evening, where water was seen shooting several metres into the air. Police and other emergency services attended the scene and closed nearby roads to allow engineers to work safely.
The burst pipe caused concern among people living close by, with some residents reported to be filling bottles and containers as a precaution in case of any interruption to water supplies.
Traffic is diverted until the situation is brought under control, and motorists were advised to avoid the area while repairs are carried out. The road closures have led to delays during the evening as emergency crews work to manage the scene.
There has been no confirmation of widespread water outages, but the incident caused significant local disruption due to the volume of water involved and the location on the roads.
Drivers and residents were thanked for their patience while emergency services and engineers dealt with the burst pipe and ensured the area was made safe.
