Fire crews were called to tackle a large caravan fire in Lowestoft in the early hours of Saturday morning (23rd August).
The fire broke out just before 1am in a residential car park on Lilac Drive and Bramble Green. On arrival, firefighters found a caravan well alight, with the flames having spread to a van parked nearby.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reel jets to bring the fire under control. A gas cylinder was removed from the scene and checked using thermal imaging equipment. Crews also used hydraulic rescue equipment to gain access to the van and ensure the flames had not spread further.
The intensity of the blaze led to multiple 999 calls from concerned residents, given the number of vehicles parked in the area and the proximity to houses.
Crews from Lowestoft North and Lowestoft South fire stations, supported by additional appliances, attended the incident.
The scene has now been left in the care of Suffolk Police, who were also called to the fire. No injuries were reported.
