A much-loved Beccles café that’s been a favourite spot for dog walkers and pet lovers is closing after a decade in business.
Owners Kathy and Melvyn Searby have announced they will be retiring and closing Paws for Tea, saying the decision comes after struggling to keep the business going in the current economic climate.
The café’s final open days will be over two weekends, with doors open from 10am to 4pm. The last days of trading will take place on Sunday 9th November.
In a message to customers, the Searbys said: “We would like to thank all our loyal customers for supporting us over the last ten years. We will miss you and your dogs very much.”
While the café will close, Paws for Tea’s enclosed dog paddock will remain open, and the couple will continue running their small boarding kennels for “a few well-behaved dogs.”
Customers wishing to use the paddock can still contact the Searbys directly on 07974 110376.
The closure marks the end of an era for many local dog owners who’ve enjoyed the café as a welcoming meeting place in Kessingland, known for its friendly atmosphere and four-legged regulars.
